The Events
Starting Line: Ventana Medical Systems — 1910 Innovation Park Drive
Arizona Distance Classic Half Marathon (13.1 miles) — 7:00am
The Arizona Distance Classic Half Marathon will allow runners and walkers to experience the exhilaration of completing the world’s most popular race distance in the foothills of the gorgeous Santa Catalina Mountains. The race begins at the gorgeously situated campus of Ventana Medical Systems (on Innovation Park Drive, just south of Rancho Vistoso Boulevard) and takes participants east, and back on the gently rolling course along Rancho Vistoso Boulevard. The course meanders through an incredibly scenic neighborhood studded with saguaro cacti and surrounding picturesque Honey Bee Canyon. Half Marathon runners and walkers will be accompanied by supportive community members throughout the course, which will have 7 aid stations.
Arizona Distance Classic Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles) — 7:15m
The “Quarter Marathon” is an AZ Distance Classic signature distance that allows runners and walkers to enjoy “a half of a half.” The course features much of the same characteristics of the Half Marathon course, with runners and walkers also starting at the Ventana Medical Systems campus (on Innovation Park Drive, just south of Rancho Vistoso Boulevard), and takes participants west, and back on the gently rolling course along Rancho Vistoso Boulevard. Quarter Marathon participants turn back at the Honey Bee Canyon Park and trail-head to return with a full view of the stunning Catalina Mountain view. While the race is only half as long, the post-race celebration is the same as the Half, with sole-moving music, complimentary refreshments, massages, and a lively post-race expo. Quarter Marathon participants will enjoy several motivational cheer stations, support and well wishes from passersby, and five aid stations.
5K (3.1 miles) — 7:30am
The 5K allows runners and walkers to enjoy the Arizona Distance Classic’s scenic race course and celebration of the healthy, active lifestyle by participating in a 3.1-mile race along Innovation Park Drive and Rancho Vistoso Boulevard on an out and back course. The gently rolling hills of miles 2 to 3 of the Half Marathon offer the challenging yet enjoyable opportunity to put feet to street and be part of the action. The return leg of the 5K is delightfully downhill and offers, arguably, the most amazing Southwestern race event views available. The 5K course has two aid stations and ample opportunities for motivation and celebration from start to finish.
