Ian Burrell to race ADC
Ian Burrell, 2012 U.S. Half Marathon Championship Medalist and professional runner will run the Arizona Distance Classic Half Marathon this year. Ian is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection law clerk in his spare time. As a professional runner, he represents the Adidas brand and Boulder Running Company in national and international competitions including road races, track and field competitions and cross-country meets. He lives here in Tucson and trains approximately 25 hours per week (100 miles per week) in preparation for national and world championships.

The 2013 Arizona Distance Classic Health & Wellness and Event Guide is out! This year we partnered with Explorer News to create an informative and entertaining event guide to share with the community and YOU. They are included as a special insert in the March 13 issue of Explorer News, online, and each Arizona Distance Classic participant will receive one in his/her race bags. Tucson’s The Biggest Loser Contestant Jessica Delfs Will Run Arizona Distance Classic Quarter Marathon on March 24
Oro Valley, Ariz. (February, 2013) — Tucson native Jessica Delfs lost over 200 lbs after becoming a contestant on NBC’s hit series The Biggest Loser during Season ten in 2010. To continue her commitment to an active, healthy lifestyle, and help motivate others to do the same, she is participating in the Arizona Distance Classic quarter marathon on March 24, 2013. Arizona Distance Classic Half Marathon and Mesa Verde Elementary Staff Partner to Raise Funds for Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Foundation
January 7, 2013 — Mesa Verde Elementary School Staff will build a team to run and cheer at the 2013 Arizona Distance Classic to raise funds as a "thank you" to the Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Foundation. To assist their efforts ADC will donate $5 directly to the foundation for every member of the Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Foundation team that registers for any ADC distance event. (Simply select the Mesa Verde Christina-Taylor Green Foundation team when completing the online registration form to participate.) Christina-Taylor Green was the vivacious and loving nine-year-old child who lost her life abruptly in the violence that occurred on January 8th, 2011, in Tucson, Arizona. Nov 7, 2012 — Ventana Medical Systems Inc. and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training Program came together in Oro Valley on Nov 3. to inspire and inform residents about raising money to fight leukemia and lymphoma by participating in the upcoming Arizona Distance Classic race.
Oro Valley Vice Mayor and Former CNN News Anchor Lou Waters Named Honorary Race Director of 9th Annual Arizona Distance Classic
October, 2012 — Arizona Distance Classic half marathon, quarter marathon and 5K celebration organizers named Lou Waters, Oro Valley Town Councilmember and Vice Mayor, its honorary race director for the 9th annual event on March 24, 2013. In his semi-retirement from an immensely successful 40+ year career in journalism, Mr. Waters has dedicated himself to maintaining and enhancing the prosperity of the Town of Oro Valley. He is a long-time fitness enthusiast who passionately advocates the establishment of healthy lifestyle for people of all ages, particularly for those in their "golden" years.

October 10, 2012 — The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training program and Ventana Medical Systems, Inc. (Ventana) are teaming up to deliver a morning of inspiration and information. On November 3, 2012, at 10:00 AM, Ventana will host a kickoff event at its Oro Valley campus, 1910 E. Innovation Park Drive, for the Arizona Distance Classic Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon and Splendido 5K event.

Fees increase September 30
As a change in seasons approaches so does a change in registration prices for the 2013 Arizona Distance Classic half marathon and quarter marathon! Early-bird registration rates of $60 for the half and $40 for the quarter are still available until September 30. Register now to avoid a $5 price increase. Save that Lincoln for a head start on dining, shopping, or otherwise adventuring in Oro Valley after the event! Perhaps even pocket it for a celebratory beverage with fellow participants at the Hilton El Conquistador. Angels abound on local MyTeam Triumph
The “angels” that alighted on the course of the Arizona Distance Classic last week traded in their wings for running sneakers. The so-called angels are from MyTeam Triumph and they earned their wings by giving disabled athletes the chance to participate in endurance events.

The Arizona Distance Classic Kids Fun Run
The Town of Oro Valley Parks and Recreation Department will again be hosting the Arizona Distance Classic Kids Fun Run. Join us at 8am in the kids corral for fun, games and crafts. The official fun run begins at 10:00am, but make sure to be there early. All participants will receive a medal and a t-shirt.
