The Angola Project 2010

The Angola Project

The Angola Project is the collaborative effort of students and adults in Tucson, AZ working together to build a school in Angola. We are raising money for RISE International, an organization which works to rebuild lives and communities by partnering with Angolan churches, community leaders, and government officials to build primary schools in rural Angola, bringing the opportunity to receive an education to thousands of children. RISE embraced a dream to impact Angola through education — one child, one classroom, one school at a time.

The Angola Project started in 2007 when three Tucson high school students decided they wanted to make a difference in the lives of children in Angola. Ironwood Ridge High School, Grace Community Church, and many other schools, churches, teams, and local businesses have partnered for the last three years to send a shipping container filled with school supplies, clothing, and soccer equipment to rural Angola. These containers have arrived and have been distributed to those most in need in this war-torn country.

But this year is different. This year, the students at Ironwood Ridge, along with support from other schools and members of the Tucson community, have set the challenging goal of building a school in Angola. A school will cost $50,000 to build, but will allow 500 children to attend school in a village where no school currently exists. Education is the key component in breaking the cycle of poverty and despair — and our efforts will make a difference!

Will you help us meet our goal?
